Renewal City Church began as a God-given dream in the heart of Casey and Genna Schutza. In 2018, Casey felt a growing desire to preach the gospel and sensed the Lord’s call to pastoral ministry. Through the support and affirmation of Church at the Cross, he stepped into a church planting residency and served faithfully for two years. After the residency, Casey served on staff at Church at the Cross as the Young Adults Minister and Alpha Director for four years.
During that time, Rah Jacob joined Church at the Cross in 2022 and began working with Casey on the Young Adults Ministry. Casey and Rah worked closely together over the next two years to develop a team of leaders and the ministry began to flourish. Over this time, the Lord started to work in Rah’s heart and he sensed a growing desire to live on mission.
Then at the start of 2024, Casey, Genna, and Rah committed to planting in Celina, Texas. After months of prayer, assessments and researching possible locations, the Lord confirmed that he was leading the team to Celina. Over the next few months Church at the Cross called people to prayerfully consider being sent out with the church plant and the launch team began to grow.
By the start of 2025, a launch team of 20 people joined together and were commissioned on March 2nd, 2025 to plant Renewal City Church. We are so expectant to see all the Lord is going to accomplish. We’re eager to put down roots in Celina and bring the Renewal of Jesus for generations to come.
